  Search Tip:  There are many ways to find your military buddy.  Our staff of researchers typically focus on other people search tools and only occasionally use the military buddy search resources provided below.  Why?  Because since September 11th and the subsequent war in Iraq, the military branches are much less forthcoming in providing information on members of the armed services.  Also, their resources are more tied up and military buddy search tools in general are not as comprehensive as they were in the past. 

But, take your best shot by using the below resources and explore other areas of our website.  Shortly in the future, we'll be posting many articles on finding military personnel. 

Navy Locator 
The Navy's World Wide Locator is a service established to find the present duty station of active duty personnel, and is for official business use only. Family members, active duty personnel and navy retirees may also use this system. To do so, you must have the service member's full name, Social Security number, grade or rank, and, if possible, last known duty station.

Also, the United States Naval Institute in Annapolis, Maryland has established a military reunion hot-line (410) 268-6110

Also, The Navy World-Wide Military Buddy locator will forward letters to retired members of the Navy. For this assistance, send a letter in a stamped envelope with the name of the retired serviceman on the front and no return address to:

Individuals have had success in locating former and retired military personnel by placing advertisements or reunion notices in military oriented periodicals. These magazines have a combined circulation of more than one million, and their readership includes many former and retired military personnel. The editors of the magazines should be contacted separately about placing advertisements.

Vets.org
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) offers a retired veteran locator service. For a small fee they will send a list of matching names and supply all known facts about a person's military history. If the service is unable to find a matching name, you will get your money back. You can write for information at the following address:

This is a community center and portal for members of the military and associated individuals. You'll have to sign up to use the military buddy locator service, however, it's free. 

Militaryconnections.com
Military buddy locator for veterans, active-duty personnel, and reservists you served with. Search our database of over 450,000 active members.  If you find a match, you will have to sign up and login to obtain information on your military buddy.
