Find Adoptee | Search By Date Of Birth Of Child
Adoptee Search
You may be surprised that you can find an adoptee having just the date of birth of your
birth child. It's true: having just a date of birth can lead to a successful adoptee search!
If you can recall your child's date of birth, online databases are available to compile a list of persons, along with their addresses and phone numbers, born on that date of birth who currently or previously have been associated with the state where the adoptee was born. This list might be quite large, depending on the state, but will give you a reasonable chance to find your birth child by placing phone calls and writing letters.
(If you do not recall the exact date of birth, there are several ways you may obtain it, which we will provide you shortly in a future post.)
Of course, any additional identifying information on your birth child that you have or can obtain in addition to the date of birth will help you develop an even better, more focused list–or perhaps even an exact match. Helpful information might include:
- The amended (adoptive) first and/or last name of your birth child
- The first and/or last names of the adopting parents
- The age range of the adopting parents
- The non-amended, (original name) of your birth child
- The occupation of the adopting parents
- The area where the adopting parents resided at the time of the adoption
- The race and religion of the adopting parents
- The education of the adopting parents
- The name of the adoption agency or attorney that handled the adoption
- The name of the birth physician
- The name of the birth hospital
- When the adopting parents applied to adopt
- The hobbies of the adopting parents
- The medical history of the adopting parents
- The physical description of the adopting parents
- Other historical information
Some or all of the above information might be developed from a number of sources that we will write about shortly. We'll also discuss statewide date of birth searching.
Please write or comment if you have any questions on how to find an adoptee.

On Feb. 23rd, 1986, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy at 12:10am at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. The agency was Catholic Charities. I was told his parents were both teachers but the father had changed jobs and the mother was going to stay home with my son. I know that about a year later they had their own biological son as I have regulary called Catholic Charites to inquire about him. I was told that both parents had blonde hair/blue eyes as I do. I did get a letter from them and a picture of him, I cherish that. Tonight he will turn 22, it seems like it all just happened yesterday. There had not been one day since that I have not thought about him and prayed for him. I need to know that he has had a good life, that I made the right choice for him, that he is happy. I know boys are not as likley to look for their birthmothers but I sure do hope Matthew looks for me. I signed some paperwork at the time that I signed the final paperwork after his birth that if he wanted to find me that I was open to it. In the letter from his parents they said that he will always know how much I loved him and that he was adopted. I do not want to interfere with his life in any way or upset his birthparents as I am eternally grateful for taking my place and giving him what I could not at the time. I am now 39 years old and have been married for almost 10 wonderful years. We have not been able to have children and next to the loss of my son, that has been too much pain to bear. I just need to know that he is ok and happy. I need him to know that I had no choice but to love him enough to let him go. When I told my parents that I could not give him up, they gave me 1 hour to pack my things and get out. I was 9 months pregnant and slept on a park bench in the snow because I had no where to go, no money, no job skills. My church did not help me, the shelters turned me away, my friends parents did not want to get involved. I finally realized that he deserved better than that. He didn’t ask to be brought into this world and that it would selfish of me to keep him. I realized that you cannot live on love alone, the most painful lesson of all. Please help me find him. Thank you

I am desperately searching for my birth son. I was 17 at the time of his birth. He was born on August 8, 1981 at Rolling Hill Hospital in Elkins Park, PA.
The attorney who handled the adoption is Samuel Totaro. I have no other information about my birth son or his parents. The paperwork given to my mother at the time of adoption is gone. I recently asked my mother for any documents she had pertaining to my birth son. She told me she had shredded them a few years ago. I was and still am distraught over this.
Without the decree I do not know where to turn to begin my search. I hope you can help me, I believe the records in Pennsylvania regarding adoption are sealed. The adoption was filed in Bucks County Family Court in Sept or Aug. 1981. I look forward to any help you can give me.

The Bedow family is looking for their niece who was born to Patricia Bedow on December 14, 1963 in southern California, Los Angeles County I believe. Her name then was Gabriell M. Bedow. That is all I know about her. Gabriell tried to make contact with the family years ago, but our mother, who is 90 years old does not remember anything about the call.

Hi Angela. Please read our post on how to obtain non-identifying information in California: http://thesearchadvisor.com/find-birth-parents-california-non-identifying-information/
If your brother was adopted, the state will provide non-id. If he was not adopted in California, they will let you know.
I hope this information helps. Please write back if you have any questions.

However spent life in foster care either way. Names are Tara Colon, David Haffelfinger (or Heffelfinger), Jack Dainel Gundrum and Edward Walter Gundrum whom was born Sept. 29th 1988. Jack was born possibly in Aug of 85 or 86,87 not really sure, David is the oldest not sure at all of the year but either Dec or Jan 16th. pretty sure early 80’s, tara was born in June of either 84 or 85.
My parents and I tried looking for them before they were of age and I’ve posted a picture on myspace and other sites of sorts and no luck. I would love to know they had a good life and are healthy and happy. And to let them know that there grandparents and me (there aunt) love them and miss them sooo much. Along with the fact they have a younger brother who is 16 now and there dad (my brother) isn’t doing to good health wise..
Any kind of help would be soo appriacated I’m at a lost of not knowing what to do or how to do it..
this also took place in Lebanon, PA.
they got taken away in child services placed into a foster home, and possibly adopted.
THANK YOU
